WELCOME. . .
Being charged with a crime is one of the most stressful experiences any person can face. At a time like this, you may be apprehensive and feel uncertain, even fearful, of what lies ahead. One of the most important decisions you will make is the choice of which attorney will represent you when you walk into the courtroom. As a former prosecutor (former Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney) in six different Kentucky counties (Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hancock, Metcalfe and Ohio), Ken Garrett understands the criminal process not only from the perspective of a defense attorney, but also the from the perspective of a prosecutor. His vast experience as a former prosecutor and penetrating insight can guide you through this difficult time.
As a prosecutor, Ken Garrett gained invaluable experience prosecuting such crimes as manufacturing methamphetamine, drug trafficking, possession of controlled substances, assault, and other serious offenses. As a criminal defense attorney, Garrett uses his prosecutorial experience to serve individuals throughout South Central Kentucky who are charged with serious felony offenses. If you have questions about a serious felony offense or any other legal matter, feel free to call and speak to Mr. Garrett personally about it.
THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM
Kentucky's criminal system has two tiers. On the lower tier, the County Attorneys handle all misdemeanors, offenses which are punishable up to twelve months in the county jail. On the upper tier, the Commonwealth Attorney prosecutes all felonies, offenses which are punishable for one year or more in the state penitentiary. Because the criminal judicial system is a complicated one, you need an attorney who is experienced and very knowledgeable about the process, because your liberty and freedom could be at stake.
