ATTORNEY BIOGRAPHY
Ken Garrett, Attorney at Law, received his undergraduate education at the University of Kentucky. While at UK, Garrett was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, served as President of Phi Eta Sigma, President of Golden Key, Vice-President of Lambda Pi Eta, Vice President of Lamda Sigma, and was elected to the Mortar Board, Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Alpha Theta, and Omicron Delta Kappa. He also served on the Student Government Association. Garrett was also selected as a candidate for the British Marshall Scholarship and eventually interviewed at the British Embassy in Washington, D.C. where he qualified as a finalist.
Garrett's undergraduate education culminated with the presentation of a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with departmental honors, summa cum laude, in History and a Bachelor of Science Degree, with departmental honors, summa cum laude, in Communications.
Garrett then attended and graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law. While in law school, Garrett was selected for the UK Moot Court Board and the State and National Trial Teams. After graduation, he clerked for the Honorable Steven Bland, Chief Circuit Judge, Hardin Circuit Court; the Honorable Janet P. Coleman, Circuit Judge, Hardin Circuit Court; and the Honorable Kelly Easton, Circuit Judge, Hardin Circuit Court.
Following his clerkship, Garrett served as the Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in the 38th Judicial Circuit under the Honorable Tim Coleman, in Butler, Edmonson, Ohio, and Hancock Counties. Garrett then served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in the 43rd Judicial Circuit in Barren and Metcalfe Counties. After serving as a prosecutor, Garrett served as a Public Defender in the Monroe District Court for a period of time. After that service, Garrett served at the Public Defender for the Metcalfe District and Circuit Courts for a period of one year. Since that time, Garrett has been in private practice.
